Nature

Grevena is a mountainous region, and can offer a variety of recreational activities – hiking and mountain trekking, horseback riding, mountain and river sports, kayaking and rafting. Winter sports are an important activity for the region and the excellent ski resort of Vasilitsa, which offers slopes and ski trails crossing areas of black pine forest.
Hikers will be amazed by the Pindos mountain range that forms a natural park with protected areas and refuges, such as the Pindos National Park. Treasures such as the caves of Tsourgiaka, stone bridges, watermills and churches add to the experience.
Of course, we have the largest river in Greece, the Aliakmonas (320 km), which flows through our prefecture adding another dimension to the natural environment.
